Beware the New Year Sales
Happy Holidays! Another year has come and gone and with that, another year of looking fashionable (or at least trying). It can be hard on the wallet looking fashionable 365 days of the year, but if you are smart, there are ways in which even the most frugal individual can look classy every damn day.
With the start of the New Year, now is the time for those of you looking to save some money to go out and buy your Fall wardrobe. Right now, most stores are having clearance sales on all their Fall attire in order to make room for their Winter and Spring lines. This is great news for those of us who like to look good but not break the bank while doing so. There are however a few things to be cautious of when going in search of your new Fall wardrobe.
First and foremost, be weary of the salesman! Retail stores are trying to clean out their Fall lines, which means the deceptive salesman will try and put you in anything and everything. DO NOT let the salesman hoodwink you into walking out of the store with a bunch of ill-fitting clothes. Know your fit, and do not let some retailer try convincing you that bagging or bunchy clothes is the new trend… IT IS MOST DEFINITELY NOT!
Secondly, shop around; find those good deals. Some stores will be more eager to get rid of items than others, which means some places will have better deals than others. Take your time to find the right look and fit for you. Don’t allow yourself to buy a jacket that is ill-fitting just because you see a sign that says 40% off.
Remember, at the end of the day, it’s better to buy a jacket or shirt that fits perfectly (or that you at least know can be tailored to fit perfectly) than to buy a jacket or shirt that is 40-50% cheaper, but will never fit well no matter the tailoring that is done.
