Dress for the Season!
As the temperatures decline, make sure you stay on top of what’s fashionable in the winter months. Of course, maintaining a sense of style throughout the entire year is ideal, but be smart about it. First and foremost, stay warm in the winter. It’s hard for others to appreciate your attire if it’s not appropriate for the climate you’re in. Keep in mind that, though you are dressing for the elements, you are still able to achieve an elevated look.
Obviously, it’s time to put away the low-cut loafers, lightly colored chinos, and brightly colored shirts. But don’t freak out, it is still possible to apply the same creativity to your fall/winter wardrobe as it is your spring/summer. Instead, dress with the season in dark neutrals; brown, grey, navy, forest green and maroon. Pair these colors with dark-washed dress jeans or slacks. A common misconception is that people must wear boxy or bulky suits or jackets in the winter to stay warm; however, heavier fabrics on well-fitted suits or jackets will keep you just as toasty without sacrificing an elevated look. For added warmth and style, add a scarf and rock a wool overcoat.
Now, there are always exceptions to the rules of fashion. So, as previously stated, dress with the season. If you so happen to be one of the lucky ones to avoid the cold and take a business or leisure trip to a warmer destination, don’t hesitate to throw on a light blue sports jacket or bring back the low cut loafers.
